The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Ambassador of Afghanistan

Chapter Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Ambassador of Afghanistan Najibullah Alikkhil, whose diplomatic mission in the country is coming to an end.

In the course of the conversation, the sides praised the degree of dialogue established at the interstate level. It is based on the principles of openness, good neighborliness and mutual respect. It was also confirmed that the countries intend to further develop partnerships in all existing areas. Participants of the meeting noted positive outcomes of cooperation in key areas of state life - cultural and humanitarian, political and diplomatic and trade and economic.

The diplomats also touched on international issues. In particular, the effectiveness of mutual support for the initiatives of the two countries in the UN framework was noted. Turkmenistan's strong stance on advancing the Afghan peace process was also emphasized. The Ambassador thanked the Turkmen side for the support during his diplomatic mission. He also expressed gratitude for the comprehensive support provided to the Afghan people.

The diplomat also mentioned a number of important projects implemented jointly by the two countries. In particular, it was about the TAPI gas pipeline, construction of the LEP and laying a fiber-optic cable through the territory of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. All these projects will promote active and comprehensive development of Afghanistan and the region as a whole. In the conversation, the parties also mentioned the recent signing in KabulIn the wake of the war, the government of Afghanistan, with the participation of Afghan leader Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, has issued a package of documents that will facilitate the more active implementation of joint infrastructure projects.

The Turkmen foreign minister thanked Najibullah Alikkhil for his fruitful work at this diplomatic post, wishing him success in his future activities and good health.
