A new season opened at the Pushkin Theater in Ashgabat

A new theater season has started in the Pushkin Russian Drama Theater located in the capital of Turkmenistan. Arzuw.news reports with reference to the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan.

The Pushkin State Russian Drama Theater is preparing for a significant date - in 2026 the institution will celebrate its centennial. The theater began its activity on October 1, 1926, and in 1937 it was named after the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.

The current year 2024 marks the anniversary of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. As part of the celebration, Chekhov's Vaudevilles has already been presented, including productions of the plays Volovye luzhki, The Bear and The Jubilee. The new season plans to continue the tradition of referring to Chekhov's classics, promising the audience a fresh look at the great playwright's works.

The theater fulfills an important cultural mission in Turkmenistan, contributing to the preservation of the Russian language and culture. The institution remains the center of cultural life of the Russian-speaking community of the country, uniting people of different generations, destinies and views through the eternal themes of art.
