A meeting with the UNFPA Adviser was held in Turkmenistan

On December 14, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova met with Leila Sharafi, Gender Advisor of the UN Population Fund, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the forum "Dialogue - Guarantee of Peace". This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties noted that the Government of Turkmenistan pursues a policy aimed at strengthening the status of women in the country and their participation in all spheres of public and political life.

Turkmenistan reaffirmed its commitment to the principles stipulated in the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women of 1996 and its Optional Protocol of 2009. The parties discussed further cooperation in the areas of gender equality, reproductive health and improvement of the legislative framework.
