On August 7, a training on the basics of information and media literacy was held for volunteers of the youth program of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan. This is reported by the Internet edition "TurkmenPortal.
During the workshop "Fundamentals of Media and Information Literacy", participants were familiarized with the main components of media literacy. In the course of the training, volunteers created images of media literate and media illiterate people and were able to see in practice that inaccurate and controversial information distracts them from their personal goals and prevents them from focusing on what is important.
One of the principles of so-called information hygiene is the quality of information. NOCPT youth were familiarized with the structure of a modern article and examples of quality news content.
Information literacy classes were conducted by journalist and media literacy trainer Maral Khydyrova.
