Turkmen archeologists have made a new discovery

Turkmen archeologists have made a new discovery during excavations in the territory of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Kunya-Urgench". This is reported by the Internet edition "TurkmenPortal.

The head of the reserve Parahat Ashyrov told about the discovery of a star-shaped structure with a diameter of 12 meters, built of burnt bricks. Dr. Muhammetdurdy Mammadov, Doctor of Architectural Sciences, suggested that the structure could have been the main mosque or an important administrative building of the capital of the Khorezmshahs' state.

The discovered site includes the remains of walls, portals and interior rooms. The works on the site continue in order to clarify the purpose of the object and its dating within the framework of the program for the preservation and study of the national historical and cultural heritage of Turkmenistan.
