Karakumderýagurluşyk's capabilities are enhanced by 17 Dutch dredgers
Karakumderýagurluşyk's ability to control the silting of the Karakum River has been strengthened by the arrival of 17 dredgers manufactured in the Netherlands.
The fleet of equipment used by the "Karakumderýagurluşyk" Production Association was increased by 17 dredgers. Modern machines made in the Netherlands are capable of pumping up to 3.5 thousand cubic meters of mixture of silt and sand from the bottom of the canal in an hour. This is twice as much as the productivity of the old dredgers and will make it possible to remove sediments formed in the Karakum River channel more quickly.
According to a representative of the Karakumderýagurluşyk Production Association, over a period of three years, a total of 70 dredgers made in the Netherlands have been put at the PO's disposal. Most of them operate with diesel fuel, while one-third use electricity.
In order to ensure the efficient operation of electric powered dredgers, the power supply was increased. This was achieved by installing several transformer substations and installing an additional power line.
The new dredgers are high-tech mechanisms that are controlled by special software installed on a computer. Specialists working with this equipment have undergone special courses to acquire theoretical and practical skills.
Thanks to the well-coordinated actions of "Karakumderýagurluşyk" Production Association specialists, the volumes of water intake from the Amudarya River are reliably regulated in full compliance with the existing agreements. Even if the water level there is particularly low, which is most typical of autumn, the dredgers will not allow the formation of sediment, preventing water from flowing into the Karakum River. And the work aimed at cleaning the river channel in its upper reaches will minimize the transfer of sand along the entire length of the canal. This, in turn, will significantly increase carrying capacity.
