The private enterprise "Gündogdy" is completing the construction of an airfield complex located in the city of Kerki, Lebap velayat of Turkmenistan. The passenger terminal is located near the suburban railway station and the road leading from Kerki to Turkmenabat. Its capacity is 100 passengers per hour. The length of the runway is 2.7 kilometers. It is able to accept all types of aircraft used by the agency "Türkmenhowaýollary". At the moment the start-up and commissioning works are being carried out at the site.
The Kerki airfield complex, equipped to the most modern standards, has a waiting room for 120 seats, as well as a room providing first aid, mother and child care, international communication points, a storage room, and a canteen for 30 people. Tickets can be purchased at one of the two ticket booths.
Another distinguishing feature of the Kerki complex will be its developed airfield facilities. For example, the runway is equipped with the latest ground-based flight support systems of the first category of the ICAO International Organization, manufactured by European companies. With its help it will be possible to receive and release aircraft around the clock.
The construction of an airfield on the territory of Lebap is another stage in the development of this region of Turkmenistan. The formation of a transport hub in this area will significantly increase the level of service to the local population and the tourist potential of the region. In addition, the new airport will expand the capacity of civil aviation of Turkmenistan, which fully complies with the objectives of the National Program developed in this direction for the period up to 2030.
The "Gündogdy" company, which won the tender to build the airport, is a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. The company has extensive experience in the construction of similar civil aviation facilities, as well as a number of significant social facilities - libraries, stadiums, residential buildings, monuments and others.
