Japanese seismologist to study earthquakes in Turkmenistan observatories

A seismologist from Japan Jun Matsuo has arrived in Turkmenistan to work in Turkmen observatories that study earthquakes, as reported on the website Centralasia.news.

Jun Matsuo will carry out his professional activities in the velayats of Turkmenistan in partnership with the Turkmen Research Institute of Seismology.

The Japanese specialist arrived in Turkmenistan within the framework of the bilateral Program for Exchange of Experience in the field of seismology. His work will be aimed at improving monitoring of the occurrence of tremors.

The experience exchange program was interrupted for a period of pandemic-related restrictions. After a pause in the implementation of the program, another seismology specialist from Japan, Iseki Shinichi, arrived in Turkmenistan in early April this year.
