Turkmen entrepreneurs received the first fruits from banana trees

10 thousand banana trees seedlings have been planted in greenhouses of Kaahki etrap of Akhal province, which have taken root and have already started bearing the first fruits. This is reported by the Internet publication "Türkmenistan Habarlar Portaly".

Greenhouses nine meters high were built especially for growing bananas. The greenhouse complex covers an area of five hectares and employs more than 20 specialists. The greenhouses are equipped with special systems of irrigation, temperature and humidity regulation manufactured in Germany, Türkiye and Spain. Seedlings of "Cavendish" variety were brought from Türkiye. Bananas of this variety need about 100 days from flowering to ripening. The weight of one banana bunch can reach from 30 to 35 kg.

Turkmen bananas are sold on the domestic market. Local farmers also plan to start growing mangoes and avocados for domestic and foreign markets.
