The VII International Congress "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan - the basis of a new Renaissance" was held in Uzbekistan in the multidisciplinary tourist complex Samarkand silk road. The delegation of the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan took part in the event. This is reported by the online edition of "Türkmenistan Habarlar Portaly".
Meretgeldy Chariev, Director of the State Museum of Turkmenistan, spoke at the Congress, telling about Khorezm jewelry, which is kept in the Museum's collections. The jewelry made in Khorezm, a large center of craftsmanship in Central Asia, dates back to the late XIX and early XX centuries. The items are made of silver with the addition of gilding, decorated with turquoise, coral and in a small amount - carnelian, agate and malachite.
These ornaments will be described in one of the chapters of the book-album of the series "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in the Collections of the World". In total, the collection of Khorezm jewelry, consisting of 67 items, is in the collection of the Museum of Turkmenistan.
