Meredov and Lavrov discuss partnership in Moscow

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation met in Moscow

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The sides noted the fruitful nature of the interstate dialog based on the principles of deep strategic partnership. The heads of diplomatic departments emphasized the key role of high-level and high-level contacts as the main factor in strengthening bilateral interaction in the long term.

Special attention was paid to the significance of 2025 - the International Year of Peace and Confidence. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the status of permanent positive neutrality of Turkmenistan and the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The diplomats held a constructive dialog on the key areas of the bilateral agenda: political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The issues of practical implementation of the Program of Cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries for 2025-2026, signed during Lavrov's visit to Ashgabat in June this year, were discussed.

The parties expressed their desire to intensify trade and economic cooperation through the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation. The parties noted the role of science, education, culture and art as an effective tool for rapprochement of the Turkmen and Russian peoples.

The Ministers stressed the fruitful nature of cooperation within the framework of international organizations: UN, CIS, Caspian Five, Central Asia-Russia format. Particular attention was paid to the development of five-sided cooperation in the Caspian region, and the need for a comprehensive international approach to the Caspian problems at the UN level was emphasized.
