The Turkmen Embassy organized a chess tournament in Washington, DC

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Washington organized and held a chess tournament on April 23 to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraghi. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The tournament was attended by U.S.-accredited diplomats from Central Asia, Turkey, the Russian Federation, Georgia and Belarus. Ambassador of Turkmenistan Meret Orazov told the audience about the life and creative heritage of Makhtumkuli Fraghi, noting the great importance of his works for the world culture. An exhibition of Turkmen literature and cultural heritage of the country, of which the works of the great poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fraghi are an important part, was organized in parallel with the tournament.

The winners of the chess tournament were awarded with books by Makhtumkuli and memorable gifts from the Embassy of Turkmenistan.
