Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union Umberto de Pretto on September 6. It is reported Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
The meeting addressed the issues of improving transport connectivity through the creation of multimodal transit and transport corridors and international logistics centers. The interlocutors touched upon the issues of interaction within the UN framework and discussed the activities of the Group of Friends of Sustainable Transport.
The IRU Head noted the commitment of the Turkmen leadership to modernize the transport infrastructure and to accede to international instruments. The possibility of building up expert capacity was considered. The parties noted the need to expand the legal framework and considered the preparation for the international conference on transport.
