Turkmenistan and Tatarstan discussed prospects for cooperation

On the eve of Turkmenistan's Independence Day, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov. At the beginning of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulated the Turkmen side on the 34th anniversary of independence. On behalf of the leadership of the Russian Federation, he conveyed greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

For his part, Hero Arkadag warmly welcomed the guest to the Turkmen land and congratulated him on his election as the head of Tatarstan. It was noted that the visit to Turkmenistan as the first foreign trip after the election demonstrates the special level of bilateral ties. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also instructed to convey his best wishes to the leadership of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the parties noted the progressive development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan. The development of economic ties, as well as strengthening of humanitarian and scientific-educational contacts were named as key areas of interaction. The role of the joint working group on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation was emphasized.
