Turkmenistan proposed to create in Ashgabat the Regional Center on Climate Technologies for Central Asian countries. The initiative was announced at a meeting of Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Inger Andersen, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
The main goal of the center should be the introduction and application of climate technologies in the countries of the Central Asian region and contribute to the technological advancement of the region in the field of climate change.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the main directions and prospects of cooperation in the field of environmental protection, climate change, ecology and rational use of natural resources.
