On February 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting of the Government Commission to discuss topical issues related to accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The event was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister V. Hajiyev and attended by representatives of specialized agencies and ministries. In his speech at the meeting V. Hajiyev noted the positive dynamics of cooperation of the World Trade Organization with Turkmenistan. The results of the activities of the Government Commission for the past year were considered and concrete steps for the current period were outlined.
The Deputy Minister recalled that last year in Geneva it was decided to grant Turkmenistan the status of a WTO-acceded country, in connection with which a wide range of tasks to prepare for accession to the Organization is currently planned.
