Turkmenistan's CEC publishes gender statistics on upcoming elections

On March 21, the Central Election Committee of Turkmenistan published gender statistics for the elections to be held next Sunday. This is reported on the official website of the Central Election Committee of Turkmenistan saylav.gov.tm.

According to the statistical report, the democratic elections fully meet the requirements of Article 29 of the country's Constitution, which defines gender equality.

Among Majlis candidates registered for election, women account for 15,89%. Among the candidates for velayat khalk maslahaty, slightly more than 32% women are represented. About 34% women are registered among candidates for etrap and city khalk maslahats.

The CEC website also provides statistics on the gender composition of election commission members involved in the preparation and conduct of elections.
