Gazprom is increasing its purchases of gas from Turkmenistan. At the same time, the Russian energy company has reduced the volume of purchases of Kazakh "blue fuel" and refused to purchase Uzbek gas completely.
Turkmenistan continued supplying gas from its fields to its Russian partners after a long break. Thus, 4 billion cubic meters of this type of energy were purchased in 2019 and 4.7 billion cubic meters in 2020. During January-March of this year, 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas has been purchased, while during the same period in 2020, this figure was 1.3 billion cubic meters. This is stated in the memorandum of Gazprom's new Eurobond issue.
At the same time, the volume of purchased Kazakh gas is decreasing. In 2018, this figure was 12.6 billion cubic meters, in 2019 - 11.6 billion cubic meters, and in 2020 - 5.7 billion cubic meters. In January-March 2021, Gazprom purchased 0.6 bcm of "blue fuel" in Kazakhstan (in comparison, 2.2 bcm of gas was purchased during the same time period in 2020).
Uzbekistan, on the other hand, turned from a supplier to a consumer of gas from Gazprom, having stopped selling gas in 2020. In 2018, the volume of sales to Gazprom reached 3.8 billion cubic meters, increasing to 4.9 billion cubic meters in 2019. Last year Uzbekistan purchased 0.9 billion cubic meters of "blue fuel" from the Russian state concern, and in January-March of this year has already imported 1.5 billion cubic meters. Experts believe that such metamorphosis is associated with an increase in domestic consumption of gas in Uzbekistan.
