Today, April 2, 2021, a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers was held, where Turkmenistan's interests were represented by Rashid Meredov. The meeting was chaired by Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makiej. Representatives of the participating states reached an agreement on coordination of steps on the main international platforms.
At the end of the meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that the key objective of the talks was to review progress in implementing the action plan on enhancing cooperation between the foreign ministries of the participating countries. This three-year program was adopted a year ago at Turkmenistan's initiative. According to Sergey Lavrov, all participants noted the importance of this work in the long-term vision. The foreign ministers came to an agreement to continue the practice of adopting common statements for dissemination in world organizations.
Today the CIS foreign ministers gave their approval to the draft treaty on combating money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The foreign ministers adopted decisions in the military and humanitarian segments (including tourism, sports, and youth exchanges).
Head of the CIS Executive Committee S. Lebedev informed that the forthcoming meeting of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers would take place in the Belarusian capital on October 14, 2021. The meeting will precede the Council of Commonwealth Heads of State.
