National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting in Balkan province on Thursday on preparations for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. The central place in the agenda was occupied by the issues of ensuring public order and security during the international forum. Co-ordination of the work of law enforcement agencies and control by the military and law enforcement bodies were discussed.
The participants of the meeting considered organizational and infrastructural aspects of the upcoming event. Special attention was paid to the improvement of the National Tourist Zone "Avaza", maintenance of sanitary condition of the territory and ensuring round-the-clock operation of medical services to create comfortable conditions for foreign delegations.
Friendship concerts and festivals of national cuisines of Central Asian countries were recommended as part of the cultural program. The issues of wide coverage of the forum in mass media and Internet were also discussed.
During the visit, the Hero-Arkadag took a boat ride on the Caspian Sea and toured the coastal tourist infrastructure. Defense Minister and Secretary of the State Security Council Begench Gundogdiyev reported on the readiness of patrol vessels to ensure order in the coastal zone during the conference.
At the end of the working trip, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov flew to Ashgabat, where he was met by officials.
