Khalk Maslakhaty did not approve Turkmenistan's 2023 state budget draft

The Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh (one of the houses of parliament) of Turkmenistan did not approve the draft law on the country's budget for 2023 and returned it to the Mejlis for revision. This was reported today by the news program "Vatan" of Turkmen television after the regular meeting of the House.
For the first time, public figures took part in the meeting.
According to Chairman Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, the bulk of the state budget should be focused on the support and development of the social sphere.
The main goal of next year's state budget is to raise the standard of living for all residents of the state. About 70% of the money should be used to expand the potential of the social sphere.
The emphasis should be placed on industrialization, expanding the potential of local production as part of import substitution and increasing the volume of exports of Turkmen products.
The main financial plan of the country should include measures to address employment issues. The document also contains important points concerning the construction of industrial and socio-cultural facilities, and support for entrepreneurial activity.
