Seasonal field works continue in the Akhal province of Turkmenistan

Farmers of Ak Bugday district of Akhal province continue seasonal field work. This is reported by the Neutral Turkmenistan daily newspaper.

Farmers have already completed sowing of cotton and are currently carrying out weeding and inter-row cultivation, paying special attention to proper care of wheat.

Guided by the tasks set by the President of Turkmenistan at the meeting on May 1, farmers also focused on the care of gourds and vegetable crops, which occupy 3358 hectares of land.

In order to reduce potato imports, it was decided to increase production of domestic tubers. This year, 1,850 hectares of land have been allocated for potatoes. In addition, farmers of Akhal velayat grow onions, cabbage, melons, watermelons, pumpkins, tomatoes and carrots in their fields. This year the goal is to produce 5125 tons of tomatoes, 220 tons of cucumbers and 2700 tons of carrots.
