Turkmenistan and Malaysia discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation

On October 9, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted talks between Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Gurbanov and a Malaysian delegation headed by Senior Political Secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin. During the talks, the sides discussed the state and prospects of Turkmen-Malaysian relations in political and diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The sides emphasized the importance of intensifying the long-standing partnership based on the principles of mutual respect.

Special attention was paid to the development of trade and economic ties, where investment cooperation was identified as one of the priorities. The sides highly appreciated the results of the recently held International Forum on attracting foreign investment in the economy of Turkmenistan in Kuala Lumpur.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the issues of intensifying cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including the expansion of cooperation in the field of education and the development of tourist exchanges between the two countries.
