On October 12, the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annaev in the city of Arkadag held a celebration on the occasion of awarding the certificate of inclusion of the nomination "Akhalteke horse breeding art and traditions of horse decoration" in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, TDH reports.
The ceremony was held within the framework of the conference dedicated to this event. As noted, the decision to inscribe the Akhalteke horse breeding art and the tradition of decorating heavenly horses on the UNESCO list of outstanding examples of intangible cultural heritage of humanity was made during the 18th session of the Intergovernmental Committee held in Kasane (Republic of Botswana) in December 2023. The proposal put forward by Turkmenistan was unanimously supported by 24 Member States of this group.
Presenting the certificate, the President of the General Conference of UNESCO S. Michelescu congratulated Hero-Arkadag, the connoisseur of Akhalteke horses, and the President of Turkmenistan, as well as the entire Turkmen people on the remarkable event of great importance in the life of the country.
As noted, Akhalteke horses have been a source of creative inspiration for jewelers, poets and artists throughout history. Works of carpet, jewelry and fine art dedicated to Akhalteke horses become worthy decorations at international exhibitions and receive universal recognition.
Then, the participants of the solemn conference visited the UNESCO club "Akhal-Teke horses - Ambassadors of Peace" established on the basis of the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annaev, where they familiarized themselves with the history of Akhal-Teke horses, achievements of Turkmen equestrian athletes in international competitions.
In the foyer of the main building of the International Academy of Equestrian Sport named after Aba Annayev an exhibition was unfolded, which displayed materials on the history of "heavenly" horses, traditions of national breeding and pedigree work and modern principles of horse care, as well as numerous photographs, works of fine arts, arts and crafts, carpets and jewelry, horse equipment.
As the source notes, the performance of the group of national equestrian games "Galkynysh" in the State Equestrian Circus named after Göroğlu, which demonstrated the beauty and grace of the Akhalteke, as well as courage, agility and skill of riders, made a vivid impression.
