Avaza, July 27 - Arzuw.news. In early August, the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries will be held in the Turkmen resort town of Avaza, which will last five days and bring together more than 30 heads of state. This is reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The resolution on holding the conference was adopted on April 11 at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. The document was co-sponsored by 57 countries, which demonstrates the high international prestige of Turkmenistan.
On 4 July, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree on holding the conference and an Agreement with the UN on how to organize it. The event will be attended by heads of government and UN leaders.
The conference program includes political and diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian events. Participants will discuss the development of transportation infrastructure, regional integration and macroeconomic policies for landlocked developing countries.
The main goal of the forum is to find solutions to overcome difficulties and fully realize the potential of landlocked states. It is worth noting that UN Secretary-General António Guterres visited Turkmenistan twice - in 2019 and 2024, which underlines the importance of cooperation between the country and the international organization.
