Turkmenistan hosted performances of folk musicians and storytellers on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi as part of the "Culture Week-2023". This is reported by the online publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The event was held in the Mukam Palace of the State Cultural Center. Creative groups, cultural workers, media representatives, folk performers and other guests gathered to listen to dutar music.
Playing the dutar, as well as the art of bakhshi, is a vivid example of Turkmenistan's national culture. In this regard, in 2022, the craft of dutar making, dutar music and the art of bakhshi were included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Heritage.
Currently, the art of bakhshi is being studied and propagandized among the younger generation in Turkmenistan.
