The head of Turkmenistan held talks with the head of Lukoil oil and gas company (Russia) V.Alekperov. The main topic was cooperation in the development of oil and gas reserves of the Caspian Sea.
A new impetus for the development of cooperation in this area was Signing of a memorandum of understanding between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The document provides for joint work on exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the Caspian Sea (Dostluk field).
The leader of the Turkmen nation noted the great importance of the agreements received for conducting an effective energy policy with Azerbaijani partners. According to the President, this opens up broad prospects for uniting efforts to unlock the potential of the Caspian Seaincluding by attracting long-term foreign investment.
The head of Lukoil expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov for his trust in the implementation of joint oil and gas projects. Vagit Alekperov emphasized that the Russian company would use all the accumulated experience of work on the Caspian and Baltic shelf for effective implementation of new tasks.
