The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a round table with the UN on migration

A round table on cooperation with international organizations and response to humanitarian challenges was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan today organized a round table jointly with the International Organization for Migration Regional Office for Central Asia and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by representatives of Turkmen ministries and agencies, as well as heads and representatives of UN specialized structures. The participants discussed practical mechanisms for prompt response in emergency migration situations with the involvement of international experts and humanitarian organizations.

Due to the political situation in the neighboring regions, the Turkmen structures carried out comprehensive work. This included servicing of foreign aircrafts at Ashgabat International Airport and round-the-clock operation of all checkpoints on the Turkmen-Iranian border.

The roundtable emphasized the importance of introducing advanced international approaches to migration management, sharing practical tools and building capacity for crisis response. Special attention was paid to the issues of effective communication between national structures and international partners in crisis conditions.

The participants highly appreciated the current level of cooperation between Turkmenistan, the International Organization for Migration and other international partners. The Parties reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation and exchange of experience to ensure preparedness for challenges in the migration sphere.
