The Turkmen delegation headed by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Ch. Rustemova is taking part in the 18th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage from December 5 to 9. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the December 5 session, the nomination of Turkmenistan "The Art of Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding and the Tradition of Decorating Horses" was unanimously inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage without a vote, based on a broad consensus of the Committee.
The Turkmen side expressed its gratitude to the Committee members and country delegations for supporting the nomination. Within the framework of the 18th session, a presentation of the Art of Akhalteke Horse Breeding and traditions of horse decoration was held, which was positively received by the evaluation committee.
