A solemn event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fraghi was held in Tehran on March 12. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan with the assistance of the Cultural Institute of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Tehran. The meeting was attended by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, representatives of scientific intellectuals, Vice President of the Iranian Association of Cultural Artifacts and Monuments Dr. Alireza Habibi, researchers of Makhtumkuli Fraghi's works Dr. Nasser Koli Sarli (from Kharazmi University).

The participants were addressed by Saad Khan, President of the ECO Institute of Culture, and A. Bayramov, First Secretary-Consul of the Embassy of Turkmenistan. The speakers spoke about the measures taken in Turkmenistan to study, preserve and popularize the literary heritage of Makhtumkuli.
