Turkmenistan's Ambassador to France, Shokhrat Jumayev, held talks with delegates of the French parliament who expressed interest in developing a partnership with Turkmenistan. The Turkmen ambassador spoke with the leader of the Senate's France-Central Asia Friendship Group, Senator Hervé Morey.
The French side was also represented at the meeting by Senator Frank Menonville and Ann-Laure Saint-Dizier, Advisor to the Department of International Relations, who work to develop partnership relations between France and the countries of the Central Asian region in general and Turkmenistan in particular.
The participants of the event considered the basic directions of the dialogue between the parliaments of both states, and also touched upon issues of interaction in the cultural, educational, trade and economic spheres.
Ambassador Shokhrat Dzhumaev spoke in detail about the constitutional reform being implemented in our state. The senators also got acquainted with the stages of formation of the two-chamber parliamentary system. During the meeting the Turkmen diplomat stressed that these processes are based on the results of extensive consultations and active public participation.
The French MPs were also told about Turkmenistan's successes in the social and economic sphere. In his turn, Senator Morey stressed the Senate's interest in improving the Turkmen-French partnership. In this regard, the sides considered a list of measures to intensify the dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries.
The participants agreed in the near future to hold a meeting of the Turkmen diplomatic representative with members of the French Friendship Group with the countries of the Central Asian region to discuss the main aspects of mutual cooperation.
Concluding the meeting, the Turkmen diplomat presented the senators with a French-language edition of the book "Turkmenistan - Heart of the Great Silk Road" by the Leader of the Turkmen Nation.
