On the eve of celebrating the 32nd anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on pardoning 1,180 citizens. This was reported on the air of the news program Watan.
As the head of state noted at today's enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, this decision is dictated by following the noble Turkmen national traditions of forgiveness on the eve of important holidays.
All pardoned persons will be released from detention and will be able to return to their families. Local authorities have been instructed to assist them in finding employment.
The President stressed that he counts on the worthy behavior of the pardoned citizens, their contribution to the large-scale work on the development of their native country and conscientious work for the good of the Fatherland.
This humane step clearly demonstrates the care of independent Turkmenistan for its citizens and adherence to high spiritual and moral values.
