The President of Turkmenistan and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held video talks with the duyenne of the diplomatic corps, Russian Ambassador A. Blokhin.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the leader of the Turkmen nation underlined that it was a tradition to celebrate New Year celebrations together with the heads of diplomatic missions, but the global pandemic has made adjustments, so the meeting is held online. The President of Turkmenistan sincerely congratulated the Duane and all heads of the diplomatic missions accredited in our country on the coming New Year of 2021.
Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov emphasized during the talks that the strategic directions of Turkmenistan's international policy are strengthening bilateral cooperation with the powers of the world and active interaction in the format of international organizations. At present, our state maintains diplomatic relations with 149 countries around the world, and Turkmenistan is a member of fifty international organizations. Forty diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan operate abroad, 46 foreign diplomatic missions work in Ashgabat. The state has joined 161 international conventions and treaties.
Great importance is attached to the development of dialogue with neighboring countries. As has been repeatedly noted during conferences and negotiations, our state firmly supports the peace and security of the region. The country is known as a reputable power, gradually implementing democratic reforms, and with a dynamically growing economy that is interesting from the point of view of investment.
The foreign policy priorities include promotion of global peace, stability, security, implementation of the SDGs, strengthening of good-neighborliness in the Region, resolving conflicts exclusively through diplomacy, and strengthening energy security.
Turkmenistan has long maintained friendly relations with the countries of Central Asia and the Caspian Sea, and is developing partnerships with the Near and Middle East, Asia-Pacific, European and American countries, and has begun establishing ties with African countries. Our country has been tirelessly developing partnerships with the UN, OSCE, OIC and other world institutions, as well as participating in the CIS as an associate member. The UN General Assembly unanimously supported Turkmenistan's initiative and proclaimed the coming 2021 the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The Turkmen leader promised to make every effort to strengthen peace and friendly relations in the world for the welfare and happiness of mankind, thanked the heads of diplomatic missions for the productive partnership and once again wished a Happy New Year 2021.
The Russian ambassador thanked and responded by congratulating the Turkmen leader and, in his person, the entire nation on the New Year. Dwuyen emphasized that all diplomats appreciate the attention to their activities shown by the president. The Ambassador stressed the special role of the state neutral status, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. According to Blokhin, the world is convinced that the neutrality of Turkmenistan is a strong and active position, and a quality mechanism of cooperation. Neutrality has become a platform for cooperation and regional dialogue. The UN General Assembly in 2020 has repeatedly expressed its appreciation of Turkmenistan's neutral status. Turkmenistan's initiatives in the energy, transport, scientific and medical spheres were also highly appreciated by the international community. The goals set for the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan should bring the country to a new level of informatization, industrialization and stable development.
As the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, the Russian ambassador praised Arkadag for his personal contribution to strengthening the mutually beneficial Turkmen-Russian partnership.
Blokhin wished the Leader of the Turkmen nation health and well-being with the words "Täze ýylyňyz gutly bolsun!
The president of Turkmenistan thanked and once again congratulated all diplomats "Happy New Year!"
