Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov held telephone talks with Pakistani President Arif Alvi. The key topic of the discussion was the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline. The heads of state discussed the trade and economic partnership between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, highlighting the energy sector, where the TAPI project is the most important one.
As we wrote earlier, the practical implementation of the project will start on the territory of Afghanistan, and the construction and installation process in Turkmenistan is almost complete. The leader of the Turkmen nation expressed the hope that the construction and installation work will soon begin in Pakistan as well.
The parties noted the need to organize online negotiations of the bilateral intergovernmental commission.
The leaders also emphasized the importance of joint implementation of transport, communications, trade and humanitarian projects, as well as the TAP line to supply electricity from Turkmenistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan.
