The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan has purchased electrosurgical equipment and aspirators for emergency obstetric care. According to the Turkmenistan: Golden Age online publication, the equipment was donated by the UNPFA representative office to the MedTekhnika production association.
The standards of emergency obstetric care were introduced in 2012 and have been regularly updated since then in accordance with the current development of medicine and the emergence of the latest equipment and technology.
Doctors and midwives in Turkmenistan learn professional skills on special simulators, which were also purchased through the UN Population Fund UNPFA.
The provision of quality emergency obstetric care is critical to reducing maternal mortality rates.
