Ashgabat's Yildiz Hotel hosted a reception in honor of India's Republic Day

A reception in honor of India's Republic Day was held in the capital's Yildiz Hotel on January 26. Vidhu Peethambaran Nair, Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan, and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Atdayev made a speech on behalf of Turkmenistan.

"The large package of documents signed between the two countries over the past 30 years provides ample opportunities for strengthening and expanding Turkmen-Indian relations in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres," Batyr Atdayev said in his speech.

India's Republic Day is one of the three most important national holidays. On this day, January 26, 1950, India adopted its own Constitution, finally ceasing to be a British dominion.

The Turkmen-Indian relations were established on April 20, 1992. Since January 30, 1994, the Embassy of India was opened in Ashgabat, and the Embassy of Turkmenistan was opened in New-Delhi. Trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation was established between the two countries. The new impetus to Turkmen-Indian relations was given with the visit of the Indian President to Turkmenistan in 2022, resulting in the signing of a package of documents on bilateral partnership.
