Issues of cooperation in the energy sector, as well as the possibility of extending the agreement on the transportation of electricity to Afghanistan, were discussed at a meeting between Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Afghanistan Ovezov and Abdul Latif Mansur, the acting Afghan Minister of Energy.
In the conversation, the ambassador noted that the extension of the contract for the supply of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan was considered at government meetings and decided positively. The supply of several power lines expires at the end of the year, the issue needs to be resolved immediately.
Imports of Turkmen electricity under the Cooperation Program contribute to the development of Afghanistan's industry and economy.
Turkmenistan remains open to cooperation with a friendly country on the implementation of joint electric power projects.
The Afghan side attaches great importance to the possibility of electrifying regions of some provinces of the country with the help of Turkmen specialists.
Understanding its partner state's difficulties, Turkmenistan supplies them with electricity at preferential rates, which contributes to strengthening peace and harmony between the countries.
