The schedule of matches of the Asian Youth Cup 2022, in which the national team of Turkmenistan participates, became known - it was announced by the Asian Football Federation (AFC). The venue for the final competition of the 5th Youth Cup (U-23) will be Uzbekistan, where 16 teams will be fighting for the victory from June 1 to 19 this year.
The draw, which was held at the Malaysian headquarters of the AFC, determined the opponents of Turkmenistan in Group "A". They were Uzbek, Iranian and Qatari teams.
The first match is scheduled for June 1. On that day, the national teams of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will meet. The soccer match will be held at the Pakhtakor stadium in Tashkent. It will begin at 20:00 (Ashgabat time).
Turkmenistan and Iran will play their second game, June 4, at the Bunyodkor stadium in Tashkent. The game starts at 18:00 (Ashgabat time). The third game will be played at the same stadium against the Qatar team. It is scheduled for June 7, at 20:00 (Ashgabat time).
The two best-performing teams in the group will advance to the quarterfinals. One of the teams in Group B - Australian, Jordanian, Iraqi, or Kuwaiti - could be the opponents of the Turkmen team in the quarterfinals.
The preparation of Turkmenistan's national team for their first appearance in the final stage of the Azi 2022 Youth Cup is entrusted to famous soccer specialist Ahmed Agamuradov. It was his leadership that allowed Turkmenistan to successfully complete the qualifying competition in Amman, being among the top four teams ranked second in the groups.
According to the results of the final stage of the Asian U-23 Cup in Tashkent, the best teams will be able to represent Asia during the Paris 2024 Olympics.
