Meredov meets with the Finnish Special Representative to the OSCE

Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Finnish Special Representative to the OSCE Teri Hakala. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to the Finnish diplomat for his personal contribution to the development of partnership relations and noted the important role of Finland in enhancing the effectiveness of the OSCE.

During the talks, the sides reviewed the long-standing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in political, economic-environmental and humanitarian areas. Particular attention was paid to the intensification of ties with the institutions of the organization - the Parliamentary Assembly, the Office of the High Commissioner on National Minorities, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Representative on Freedom of the Media.

The participants in the meeting emphasized the symbolic significance of the Finnish Chairmanship of the OSCE in the year of the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act. The priorities of the Finnish Chairmanship on strengthening dialogue and confidence-building are in line with Turkmenistan's neutral course and the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Confidence.

The diplomats emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts in the areas of security, energy development and transport interconnectivity. They also emphasized the need to continue exchanging experience in protecting human rights and strengthening democratic institutions.
