With 102 awards (35 gold, 21 silver and 46 bronze medals) completed the participation of the national team of Turkmenistan in the World Shotokan Karate Championship in Pardubice (Czech Republic), reported the Karate Federation.
The competition was attended by karate fighters from 31 countries. During three days 246 sets of medals in different age and weight categories were played in kata (demonstration of exercises - fighting with invisible enemy) and kumite (combat sparring) disciplines.
On the first competition day the Turkmen karate fighters won four top awards, on the second day they won 19 gold, 8 silver and 15 bronze medals, and on the final third day they won 12 gold, 13 silver and 31 bronze medals. Turkmenistan's squad finished third in the medal count, trailing Romania (43 gold, 53 silver and 76 bronze) and Czech Republic (44 gold, 49 silver and 93 bronze medals).
In addition, Ovezmyrat Sapadurdiyev and Allanur Yalkabov became the Absolute World Shotokan Karate Champions and received the Grand Champion belt.
