On January 28, 2021 a videoconference with the participation of representatives of Turkmenistan and Japan was held. The event was held in the building of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Virtual negotiations with the head of the Japanese corporation "Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd." Mr. T.Watanabe took place with the participation of the management and representatives of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, State Concern "Turkmengaz" and the State Bank of Foreign Economic Activity.
Participants of the event reviewed the positive experience of Turkmen-Japanese partnership relations and identified a number of key areas for further cooperation. There are plans to develop them more intensively. Turkmenistan has already implemented a number of global projects in collaboration with Japan. The representatives of the Turkmen side expressed the desire to further actively develop partnership with the Japanese.
Japan took part in a project to build a plant in the Ahal region of Turkmenistan. The enterprise started operating in June 2019. This industrial complex produces environmentally friendly synthetic gasoline, the raw material for which is natural gas. The active activities of the Japanese in the construction were highly appreciated by the representatives of the Turkmen delegation, because thanks to their efforts, the plant was not only built, but also operates smoothly to this day.
The Japanese representatives thanked President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov for the trust he had placed in them by allowing them to participate in the construction of the above-mentioned facility of the Turkmen industry.
In the future, investments in the above project will be made in cooperation with the world's key financial institutions, including the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
