Officials Turkmenistan и Belarus intend to hold a meeting during which they intend to discuss ability to overcome trade barriers. New economic realities, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, led to their emergence. The online event (based on Zoom) is scheduled for September 30.
Data for the first half of 2020 show a reduction in exports of Turkmen goods to Belarus by 10.8% against the same period of the previous year. Also, imports to Turkmenistan of products of the friendly state decreased by 15.3%. COVID-19 is the main factor that led to a drop in trade turnover between the two friendly states.
In the course of the upcoming online meeting, the parties will discuss the reasons that led to the emergence of trade barriers and discuss ways to overcome them. They will also consider the possibility of further enhancing cooperation in the trade and economic sector.
The upcoming negotiations are organized by Turkmen и Belarusian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The participants of the meeting will be employees of foreign policy agencies, delegates of ministries, experts in the field of economy and businessmen. The recruitment of participants in the online discussion by the Belarusian side continues. To apply is available until September 28, 2020.
The start of the event is scheduled for 10 a.m., and participants will be able to join the discussion from 9:45 a.m. by registering and receiving a link to join. In addition, there will be a broadcast on the YouTube channel.
