Turkmenistan and Mauritania discussed prospects for expanding cooperation

Geneva, July 31 - Arzuw.news. Ambassador Vepa Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, held a meeting with representatives of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to discuss bilateral cooperation. The talks held on July 30 were devoted to analyzing the current state of Turkmen-Mauritanian relations and identifying prospects for their development. The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the possibilities of interaction within the framework of international organizations.

The sides reaffirmed mutual interest in expanding partnership in the field of sustainable development and strengthening transport and logistics ties. The diplomats emphasized the need to intensify regional and interregional contacts between the two states.

Separately, the meeting discussed the upcoming Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which will be held from August 5 to 8 in the Turkmen resort of Avaza.

Mauritania, located in West Africa with Nouakchott as its capital, borders Morocco, Algeria, Mali and Senegal and has access to the Atlantic Ocean. The African country's economy is based on mining, fishing and agriculture.
