Turkmenistan to start cargo transit via the Resht-Kaspian railroad

Milad Salehi, Director General of Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said that the transportation of goods on the new railroad "Resht-Kaspian" from Turkmenistan will begin next week. This is reported by the online edition "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."

Next week, sulfur from Turkmenistan will be transported from the port of Turkmenbashi to the port of Caspian with subsequent transit by rail through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The new Resht-Kaspian railroad has become an important component of the major North-South transportation corridor. This transportation artery links the Caspian Sea, the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, as well as connecting the northern and southern parts of the country.
