Turkmenistan discussed a wide range of issues with Korea

The eighth regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was held online, during which Turkmenistan negotiated with by the Republic of Korea a wide range of issues concerning interaction between the countries.

The Turkmen side was represented by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers M. Meredovand the Korean one. Son Yun-Mo, head of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The participants of the meeting noted the important role of high-level contacts in strengthening partnership relations between the states. In particular, attention was drawn to the fact that the activation of trade and economic ties contributed to Economic cooperation program developed for 2019-2022 years.

The parties analyzed the implementation of the agreements reached during the previous, seventh, meeting. The following issues were touched upon investments, implementation of large-scale joint projects in the gas-chemical and oil and gas industries. The participants of the meeting also considered the prospects of partnership development in the field of digitalization, information, communications, textiles, forestry, water, and road construction. Separately, the topic of erecting structures taking into account unfavorable seismological conditions was touched upon.

The list of main topics includes interaction in the field of health care. The parties intend to further develop scientific contacts, exchanging skills to counteract the spread of acute respiratory diseases.

The participants also noted the importance of developing partnerships in scientific and educational, cultural and sports spheres.

The negotiations resulted in the adoption of the Minutes of the Eighth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in the Sphere of economy, trade, science and technologyand the Memorandum of Understanding. The latter document regulates the relationship between the Balkan Shipyard and the Korean Institute of Marine Equipment (KOMERI).
