Turkmenistan to build a mosque in Azerbaijan

On October 10, 2025, Baku hosted a briefing on the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan on the start of construction of a mosque in Fizuli city. The temple is being built by Turkmenistan as a gift to the brotherly people of Azerbaijan. It reports Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan. 

The event was attended by the Advisor to the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan, deputies of Milli Majlis, chairman of the Azerbaijani part of the Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Group, head of the Council of Elders, First Deputy Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department, representatives of the think tank, ambassadors of Turkic-speaking states, political scientists and journalists.

The participants expressed their deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero Arkadag and the entire Turkmen people for this gesture of goodwill. The construction is being carried out by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund.

The symbolism of laying the mosque within the XII Summit of Heads of State of the Turkic Council was emphasized. Participants of the briefing noted that this project will strengthen relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
