Turkmenistan will extend contracts for the supply of electricity to Afghanistan. The corresponding decree was signed by President Serdar Berdymukhamedov, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The document was signed in order to implement plans for the export of Turkmen electricity to foreign countries and allows the state corporation "Turkmenenergo" to conclude an additional agreement to extend the term of contracts with the Afghan company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat for the supply of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan, as well as to establish the volume and price of electricity supplied.
For a number of years, Turkmenistan has been providing electricity to the northern regions and the city of Herat in Afghanistan at preferential prices. Currently, Turkmen electricity is supplied to Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
