The agreement on strengthening interconnectivity of land transport in Central Asia and the Dushanbe communiqué of the first meeting of transport ministers of Central Asian states were signed within the framework of the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
In accordance with the signed Agreement, the parties undertake to ensure favorable conditions for land transportation, as well as a competitive environment for carriers in Central Asia. An important condition for effective foreign economic activity is the development of new international, including multimodal transport corridors. The parties confirmed their readiness to make efforts to develop modern transportation and logistics services.
The Agreement also included the promotion of environmentally friendly modes of transport and arrangements for the introduction of innovative developments, which will ensure the simplification of transport and transit procedures.
