Ashgabat, July 15 - Arzuw.news. The events of the International Year of Peace and Trust demonstrate Turkmenistan's commitment to a constructive foreign policy strategy based on the principles of positive neutrality. This is reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The year 2025 is a special year for the country - it marks the 30th anniversary of acquiring the status of permanent neutrality, which has been recognized three times by UN General Assembly resolutions. It was Turkmenistan that made a proposal to declare 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust", which was approved by the relevant UN General Assembly resolution.
On May 30, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to Kazakhstan and participated in the First Central Asia-Italy Summit in Astana. The event resulted in the signing of the Joint Statement and the Concept of Regional Cooperation "Central Asia-2040" based on the results of the Sixth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of the Central Asian states in September 2024.
The Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of major regional projects, including the TAPI gas pipeline, the TAP high-voltage power transmission line and the construction of railroads in the Afghan direction.
On June 17, President Berdymukhamedov attended the Second Central Asia-China Summit in Astana. The first such summit was held in the Chinese city of Xi'an in May 2023. The meeting resulted in the signing of the Treaty on Eternal Good Neighborliness between the countries of Central Asia and China, the Astana Declaration and the Initiative on Creating Favorable Conditions for Mutual Travel of Citizens.
On the same day, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Astana. The opening of the Central Asia-China Cooperation Center was announced, and an agreement was signed between the Akhal province of Turkmenistan and Shaanxi province of China on establishing twinning relations.
On June 22, within the framework of the 51st meeting of the OIC Ministerial Council on the proposal of Turkmenistan, the Resolution "On the role of the policy of neutrality in maintaining international peace" was unanimously adopted.
Turkmenistan also proposed to establish a Regional Climate Technology Center in Ashgabat under the auspices of the UN. In addition, it is planned to organize an exhibition "The flourishing of cultures: Bronze Age Margiana and Parthian Kingdom. Archaeological discoveries in Turkmenistan" in Rome.
