On March 31, the World Giving Index (WGI) report published information that Turkmenistan was included in the first twenty among 126 states on the index of charity. This was reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age"
The Charity Index is calculated according to three criteria: monetary donations, volunteering time and helping strangers. The study was conducted by the American Gallup Institute and publicized by the Charities Aid Foundation.
Turkmenistan became the leader of Central Asia in the ranking of charity countries with the index 43%.
The high rating of Turkmenistan is explained by the special mentality of the Turkmen people, who are characterized by mercy and generosity.
Charity is supported in the country at the level of society and the state. Thus, in 2021, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund was established in Turkmenistan, which provides comprehensive support to children in need. It is planned to open a children's health improvement and rehabilitation center in the town of Arkadag under the patronage of the Fund.
